Summer... winding down

via Design Sponge

It's that perfect time of year. But we know that if we blink it will be over. The temperatures are perfect -We can wear sweaters in the morning and wrap ourselves in blankets in the evening as the sun starts its descent earlier and earlier now. We can sleep with windows open and fans that bring in the sweet gentle breezes from outdoors. The days are still warm and we can enjoy our beaches, lakes and swimming pools. In fact being outdoors is most pleasant now, without the unbearable heat and humidity. We love this weather - we love that it is warm enough to still wear sundresses and cool enough to don our favorite white jeans. We can let the sun kiss our shoulders during the daytime, and we can wrap up in cashmere in the evening. We don't have to put away our favorite summer styles and yet we can get excited about all the fabulous fall finds that loom just around the corner.

We also know that school is just around the corner, and for many of our Southern and Western friends it has already started. Because of this we scramble to make the most of these picture-perfect days. We try to fit in all the activities we have yet to do this summer... all those mini adventures and road trips... We want to throw a few more outdoor dinner parties, enjoy a few more boat rides, a few more lazy afternoons on the beach or the porch. We want to enjoy a few more sunrises and sunsets... more picnics at the beach... more lazy raft rides on the lake... more s'mores... bubbles and sparklers... We're excited for the children to get back to school but we'll miss not having them around...
