Taking my new wheels for a spin...

without children!

As soon as we got home from the dealer on Wednesday night the kids all stormed out of the house like a herd of Wild Buffalo. I ran in to the kitchen to grab my camera and when I got out the car was already GONE! I caught two pictures as it headed down, then out of the driveway without me! I hadn't even driven it home. I gave Daddy the honors... sheesh!

Since so many of you have been asking me what kind of car I got, and since I haven't told most of you, below is a picture from the brochure... I helped to stimulate the economy on Wednesday, but without having to go into foreclosure ourselves, I need to tell you that we got a Certified Pre-Owned car off of a 3 year lease. We got a great deal for our trade-in, despite the fact I accidentally backed out of the garage in the van despite the fact it had backup cameras and that the tailgate was up! Oops!

I am thrilled and in heaven! This is my absolute dream car and I still cannot believe that it is mine... mine, mine, mine mine mine!!!

So today, as many of you know, especially if you are FB friends, I am headed off to my friend Cathy's for the day... without children! To see about a dozen college girl friends, many of whom I have not seen for a dozen years or more!

I'll be riding in my car, listening to my songs... there will be no screaming, crying or bickering... there will be no "I want to watch that!" or "I don't want to watch that!" or "I want to listen to my songs!" or "No, I want my songs!" There will be no pee stops, unless I have to go. There will be no one whining, "I'm-so-bored-I-think-I'm-gonna-die-are-we-there-yet?" There will be nothing but peace and quiet... unless you hear my screaming off tune to my songs... but it's my car and I'll sing off tune if I want to! I'll be listening to Cold Play and Tricia and Garth and Carrie and The Fray and Sugarland and whomever else happens to be on my iPod or the radio... And Mandy, maybe Milli-Vanilli will come on ;) I will not listen to Laurie Berkner (as great as she is) or Kids Bop or whatever children's songs happen to be in the CD case...

Instead of juice boxes and water bottles I will have my Diet Coke and coffee from Starbucks...
Instead of Pepperidge Farm Goldfish I'll have my Orbit gum and some Altoids
Instead of chaos I will calm...
Instead of children I will have... NOBODY...
In the cooler instead of juice boxes I will have a bottle of Chardonnay, 2 bottles of Prosecco, 1 bottle of Limeade, 1 bottle of Limoncello and some strawberries -- for my Sparkling Lemonade Sangria!

I will have my camera and tripod so that I can get in some of the pictures.

I cannot wait and I will fill you all in! I have to get the kids fed and dressed. And then I have to figure out what I am going to wear... I already know which shoes I'll be wearing ... they're my faves! (Beth, if you are reading this, this picture is for you!)

Then, when I figure out what the rest of me is wearing I'll head to Swoozie's to get a hostess gift, and then I'll drop the boys off at a friend's house and then I will be on my way!
