Summertime. It's almost here and soon sandy little bodies will be running through my house. I'll have all but given up on vacuuming the floors. I will learn to live with sand in my sheets and on the furniture. It's what living by the ocean is about. No matter how well we hose off our feet before we go inside at the end of the day, the sand still manages to follow us all inside. I need an outdoor shower! I would love to have an outdoor shower. I'm rather obsessed with outdoor showers. It's one of my favorite things to do when I go to Nantucket. After the beach, at the end of the day as the sun is starting to lower herself over the horizon, there's no better, more relaxing place to be than standing under the rustic outdoor shower beneath the warm blue skies overhead. To shower en plein air has to be one of the most soothing and yet energizing experiences ever. Why would one want to shower in an ordinary bathroom when you can shower surrounded by trees and grass and the flowers and fauna.... Listen to the water as it hits the ground... it sounds so very different outdoors. Listen to everything around you... the breezes in the air, the birds singing from the trees that surround you... the small aircraft taking off and landing. Smell the flowers, the pine, the warm, wet wood.... If you've never had this opportunity you've been missing out!

I will, one day, have an outdoor shower. It needn't be fancy or terribly large... it simply needs to be outside!
