my New York

I headed into the city yesterday for a Noon luncheon followed by a couple of meetings. I decided to bring my camera with me. Nothing makes me happier than to go back home, to my city. She's at once beautiful, majestic and yet completely ordinary. She's glamour and mundane. She's rich and she's poor. She's new and she's old. She's larger than life and yet she's so very small. She's a juxtaposition. She's my city. And while I no longer live there, I will always consider New York to be my home. My heart belongs in New York.

When I'm in Manhattan I tend not to look at the overall landscape with a panoramic, wide angled vision. Instead I focus on the smaller, more intimate everyday details. If I had my camera and looked through my zoom lens every day for the rest of my life, I would always see something new.

Come stroll the streets with me. These are ordinary, everyday, snippets - tiny details - of a place I love so much. It never ceases to amaze me how beautiful ordinary can be.

"And New York is the most beautiful city in the world? It is not far from it. No urban night is like the night there... Squares after squares of flame, set up and cut into the aether. Here is our poetry, for we have pulled down the stars to our will." Ezra Pound

Happy Day Everyone!
