I've never been an over-the-top person when it comes to holiday decor - I think this applies to most aspects of my life. I believe that less is more - and that modest ideas can be subtle yet make a statement, simple yet sophisticated. I love to use what I already have in my home and in my backyard. And I believe in keeping things simple. The fewer the steps needed, the better, as most of us simply do not have time to be running all over the place. In fact you can find everything you'll need for your Easter table at the grocery store.

As you do your food shopping, in addition to picking up eggs and food coloring, think about picking up some Jelly Beans, pastel m&ms, mini pastel foil eggs, vegetables like radishes, carrots, artichokes, clementines, ribbon, twine, candles, flowers, from the florist or grocery store. A few basic items can add brighten up any table, Easter or otherwise. Additionally, bring some branches from outdoors, and mix up your teacups, plates, napkins and silverware to add some layers and variety to your table. Use what you have and give old items new use and meaning, whether you're repurposing old jam jars, (Bonne Maman are the best!) or vases, pitchers or terra cotta planters and combine them with vintage items that have been passed down. Whether your centerpiece is a lavish bouquet of flowers, or a simple chocolate Easter Bunny - your table can be so easily put together from a trip to the grocery store as well as things you already have at home. I love mixing old and new.

A few simple branches can be brought inside and forced open and added to your Easter table, or anywhere in your home for a touch of Spring. It takes roughly 5-7 day for flowers to appear. If you're short on time or don't have flowering bushes, simple silk flowers can be glued on to to bare branches to create an illusion of spring. Image via Better Homes and Gardens

Not all Easter tables are decorated with egg. Nor are all of them pastel. A bowlful of blood oranges and clementines, along with the orange tulips, from my local grocery store, will make any table happy and cheery. (Tablecloth is a curtain panel from HomeGoods, large charger is vintage Portsmouth by Royal Stafford, blue and white plate from Goodwill, antique linen napkin and antique silver and bakelite fish service passed down from my grandmother.

A vintage brandy snifter (passed down from my grandmother) filled with jelly beans adds a cheerful vibe to each place setting.
