The sleeveless jacket took the streets and runways by storm in 2014. A year later they're here to stay and perhaps hotter than ever. I'm quite certain this fashion "trend" will have enough staying power to become a classic wardrobe staple. We'll be seeing a lot of this look this fall, a time of year that can be a maddening time to try to figure out how to dress as early in the season the calendar may say Fall while the temperatures clearly say Summer. Looking seasonally appropriate while needing to stay cool can often be a challenge. I purchased my first sleeveless jacket (since my LLBean puffer vest from the 1980s that I still wear!) last Spring when I spied a grey sleeveless cargo jacket in a store window. I don't remember how, exactly the mannequin wore the look but I imagined myself wearing it with white jeans, dressier black pants and a classic black sheath dress. I passed by this window for several days en route to my morning gym workout before finally stopping in to try it on. Once on, there was no doubt this jacket would be coming home with me. Subsequently it has been worn with the white jeans, black pants and black dress, perfectly complementing all three items. It's a look that translates from casual to sophisticated and from day to evening. It's versatile. I'm a huge fan of versatility.
I happen to love the sleeveless look. I love the exposed arms on a warmer day, and the ability to add some layers beneath them once the temperatures start to dip. The layering, in addition to warmth, provides additional texture and color to jazz up any wardrobe. This look suits all ages, heights and body types.
