I just adore picnics. They're so much fun. They make a regular meal more memorable, almost celebratory, if you will. We enjoy indoor picnics even more than we enjoy outdoor picnics. (No ants, mosquitos or bees!) You can enjoy a nice indoor picnic any time of the year. If you haven't picnicked lately you should definitely give it a try!
The children and I are moving to a charming new house in a charming town. We're all very excited. It's a small house, about 1/4 of the size of where we've lived for the past 4 years. I'm spatially challenged. I love o design, re-design and decorate, but I'm having issues with where to put what. Many of my pieces of furniture are large, but my new space is not. I'm constantly moving pieces around in my head. Not from wall to wall, but from room to room!
If I can get our windows covered the children and I will spend our first night in our new home on Thursday. I'll be too exhausted to cook. We'll have a picnic. We'll have a celebratory picnic. We'll have no dining room (the table luckily will fit in the kitchen!) and we'll have no couches until I can figure out what I want to get (that is reasonably affordable!) so we'll have a picnic. We'll spread out a large blanket and assorted delights!
When I was four my parents moved from an apartment on the Upper West Side to our apartment on the Upper East Side. My mother picked me up after school one day. In our unfurnished dining room was a picnic basket with assorted goodies. I still remember that day vividly. I hope my children remember theirs as clearly when they are my age.
