Welcome to The Entertaining House. We do hope you'll pour yourself a cup of tea or a glass of wine and linger for a while!

Gone too Soon...

Alexander had a full out tantrum. Hitting. Screaming. Punching. Crying. I didn't have the patience. His request for white chocolate chips was denied. Over and over and over again. And then I heard my friend Maria's voice. "Oh come on, give him a couple. What's the harm?" And I never would have in the past. But I did today. Because life is short.

It's been a rough week of battling pneumonia and swine flu and, today we lost our dear friend Maria... I just don't have the words to express how I feel.

Those of you who knew her know that Maria was a ray of light... never without a smile... one of the kindest most wonderful people to grace your presence... she leaves behind her wonderful husband and two sons... She passed much too soon... She will be gone but never forgotten. She will be missed.

To all of you who are reading this. Take care of yourselves... take care of your health and please don't take it for granted. Your children are important. So are you. If something doesn't feel right, get it checked out. Even if you are not sure. Don't delay. Hug your kids... hug your girlfriends... your sisters and mothers...

Gone Too Soon

Like a comet
Blazing 'cross the evening sky
Gone too soon

Like a rainbow
Fading in the twinkling of an eye
Gone too soon

Shiny and sparkly
And splendidly bright
Here one day
Gone one night

Like the loss of sunlight
On a cloudy afternoon
Gone too soon

Like a castle
Built upon a sandy beach
Gone too soon

Like a perfect flower
That is just beyond your reach
Gone too soon

Born to amuse, to inspire, to delight
Here one day
Gone one night

Like a sunset
Dying with the rising of the moon
Gone too soon
Gone too soon

Thanksgiving Tree

I'm down for the count...
